Ch…ch…ch…changes

Change of weather, change of schedule, change of attitude.

It’s spring. Or it’s supposed to be spring. Apparently the weather didn’t get the memo.
New Hours
We have officially changed to summer hours.

Friday 11 – 6
Saturday 10 – 7

Group Rides
We also will be switching from riding inside on Saturday mornings to riding outside Saturday mornings. (Yes, the first few rides might be a bit chilly.)  Rides start at the store at 9:00 AM and are subject to weather (no rainy rides.) We’ll be heading out west for around 50 miles and will increase distance and intensity through the season. These will be “No-Drop” rides.
We will also be riding on Tuesday evenings starting at 6:00 PM from the store. These rides will be about an hour long and will typically be over to St. Paul for some hill climbing fun. Again, subject to weather.
Feel free to contact us if you have questions.
Clinics
We will be having free monthly beginner triathlon clinics in conjunction with Triple Threat Tough and free basic bike maintenance clinics. Check the website and events calendar for dates and times.

Well, it’s gotten damn cold again here in Minnesota and thoughts are turning to warm locales and maybe some off season training. If you’re looking for a training camp here are a couple of suggestions:

Pedal for Pancakes is BACK!

Pedal for Pancakes starts Saturday, November 3rd. Doors open at 9:00 AM. Ride for 60 to 90 minutes and then eat our free pancakes. Want to use one of our trainers? Send an email with “Kinetic Reservation” and that Saturday’s date in the subject line to info@urbantri.net. On Friday we will send a confirmation to the first 10 people to reserve and let everyone else know they are welcome to join us with their own trainer.

Kinetic Trainers to Sponsor Pedal for Pancakes

This year Kinetic has been generous enough to help us set up a fleet of demo trainers. This year we’ll have 10 Kinetic Road Machine fluid trainers at our disposal. If you’re one of the first 10 people to reserve a trainer each week it’ll be waiting at Urban Tri for you to use. This gives folks who don’t have a trainer an opportunity to try, what we believe to be, the best fluid trainer on the market and it gives people with an older trainer the chance to see if it’s time to upgrade. Either way, all you have to do is bring your bike in and ride. And after the ride – pancakes! And it’s all free.

How could this get any better? Well, we will be giving away a brand new (not a demo model) Kinetic Road Machine fluid trainer with a riser block and a Kinetic cycling jersey and Kinetic cycling shorts at the end of the Pedal for Pancakes season (roughly the end of April.) To qualify, just participate in any of the Pedal for Pancakes sessions and enter the drawing. Every time you join us for Pedal for Pancakes you can enter the drawing, meaning the more chances you have of winning. It’s kind of like The Hunger Games but without the starvation and murder. May the odds and pancakes be always in your favor and flavor.

I Feel Bad Posting This

With the weather as beautiful as it has been I feel somewhat bad posting this, but soon enough the weather won’t be quite so nice and we won’t be able to ride our bikes outside. Urban Tri just received a shipment of Kinetic Road Machine fluid trainers and accessories. We love these trainers and think you will too (when you have to ride in place in your basement.)

Stop in and check them out. If you purchase a trainer, mat, sweat catcher and riser block you’ll get 20% off the accessories.

We will also be using this model as demo trainers for our upcoming Pedal for Pancakes rides starting Saturday, November 3rd. Look for more details coming soon.
